Blending:
How do we get the flowing product according to specification? What tolerances are acceptable?
Jet-Mixing:
How do we get a representative flow for our analysis? What tolerances are acceptable?
In-line blending has many advantages compared to batch blending, like improved accuracy, reduction in process time and more flexibility (all according to the just-in-time production guidelines).
Jet-mixing can drastically reduce the operational costs as the analyse output signal can never be better than the signal which is offered to the analyser.
Blending and Jet-mixing can assure compliance to the required safety and environmental specifications and the conscious handling of hazardous and polluting components.
Working principle blending/jet-mixing:
In-line blending in short works by using configured flowrates or other analyse signals like viscosity or density to control the valves in a way that the outflow is conform the preset specification (see figure below).
Jet-Mixing in the line in short uses a small stream from the main stream that will be re-injected in the line under pressure. The unique thing about the Jet-mixing method is not so much the mixing in the line, but more the 99% homogeneity of the flow in the return line. This makes a highly accurate analyses possible (see figure below). The analyse loop can be isolated which makes maintenance on the analyse equipment possible. Apart from these advantages is purging of the line also possible by using a retractable version of the mixer.
